Welcome back!

How lovely to welcome Nisar Khan to the Take a Break Cafe this morning (Tuesday 5th July). It was so good to see him again – & wonderful to see so many villagers come to greet him, say ‘hello’ & catch up.  Amazing community spirit.  Nisar used to be the Postmaster in the village until he was caught up in the ‘Post Office Scandal’ involving the Horizon computer software which was introduced into the Post Office network from 1999.  This resulted in, what has been deemed, one of the biggest miscarraiges of justice the UK has ever seen.  Nisar, like so many other Postmasters, was falsely accused  of embezzlement, when account ‘discprencies’ were, in fact non-existent & the result of flaws in the Horizon computer system itself.  As Nisar said: he’s been to hell and back and now wants to set the record straight.

We are all very pleased that he has now been officially totally exonerated, & wish him & his wife a wonderful ‘new life’.  A lovely couple – sorely missed in our community.

We do hope to see both him, & his wife, Saied, again soon.
